LPEHNS commerates Independence Day

Students, teachers as well as school administrator held 111^th day Independence Day on Commemoration on Independence Day on June 12, 2009 at the school campus.

 Social department assigned students to prepare different numbers:  dialogs, short drama, comedy, cultural dances, and talks to bring out the meaning of this celebration.

 The central theme in this event was in line with DepEd Secretary Jesli Lapuz’s statement, “Strengthening human resources especially on part of the teachers is timely and meaningful to celebrate Independence. Having challenging rule especially in teaching young people must be given recognition by the country in nurturing our children” during the 111^th celebration at DedEd Pasig.

 The program was spearheaded by Ms. Leonora Reyes (Social Studies Head), Ms. Phondora S. Capistrano (Principal I), Teachers, and School Student Officers. Ms. Phondara challenged students to demonstrate guts not in brawl but in diligence to do tasks.

FEATURE WRITING CONTEST

The Blue Palm invites everyone to participate in the Feature Writing Contest entitled Express Your Thought in Writing which will be held at LPENHS Library on July 8, 2009 at 10:00 – 12:00 am for 2nd year and 3rd year participants and 1:30 pm– 3:00pm for 1st year to 4th year participants. This contest is open for all students of Las Pinas East National High School. Winning pieces (1st – 3rd Places) will be published in school’s website, the blue palm’s blog, and school paper publication. 1st – 3rd place winners will be announced through the school’s website.

Steps on how to join the contest:

1. Email your name, year and section, and your intention to join the contest address to thebluepalm@yahoo.com not later than July 5, 2009.
2. Read and study the guidelines of the contest that The Blue Palm will be sending through your email.
3. Attend the orientation on the scheduled date, time, and place. Failure to attend the said orientation will mean cancellation of your entry.
4. Come and enjoy the contest on July 8, 2009 at the School’s Library. Participants are scheduled in two sessions (morning and afternoon)

Schedule of training in Campus Journalism

The training of newly – registered writers will start on June 22, 2009. Photo journalism is scheduled on June 22 – 25 at 1:00 pm – 4:00pm. Participants are required to bring digital camera for photo shooting; News writing and headline writing follow on June 23, 25, 26, and 29 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm; Editorial writing is scheduled on June 24, 28, 29 from 1:30pm – 3:30pm. Feature writing is also scheduled on July 1 – 3, 6, 8, 10. Schedules for training on other categories will be posted on first week of August.

Participants must report at the office of the editor 5 minutes before training starts.
